Shreveport's Live Music Calendar: Jazz, Blues & Brass Nights

Ask a local where to hear live music in Shreveport and the answer usually depends on the night of the week rather than a single go-to venue. The scene here is spread across a handful of rooms, each with its own regular night, and knowing the rhythm of the week matters more than knowing any one address.

Thursday Through Sunday: The Cove Deck

Our own house band anchors the upstairs lounge from Thursday through Sunday, running a five-piece horn-and-rhythm section that leans into New Orleans-style brass without trying to be a New Orleans imitation. Sets typically start around 8 PM and run late, and the room tends to fill by 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations aren't required but are worth making if you want a table near the stage.

Monday & Tuesday: Quiet Nights, Smaller Rooms

Early-week nights in Shreveport tend toward smaller acoustic sets — a duo or trio rather than a full band. The Cove Deck runs a scaled-down trio on these nights, which suits guests who want music with dinner rather than a full show. A few venues in the district run open-mic or songwriter nights on Tuesdays, which can be worth a walk if the resort's own lineup doesn't fit your evening.

Wednesday: Blues Night Across the District

Blues has a stronger foothold on Wednesdays than any other genre in Shreveport, tracing back to the city's role as a stop on regional touring circuits going back decades. Several rooms downtown run a rotating cast of blues acts midweek, and it's one of the better nights to walk the riverfront and follow whichever room sounds good from the sidewalk.

You don't plan a night out around one venue here — you plan it around a night of the week.

Booking a Table on a Weekend Night

If your stay lands on a Friday or Saturday and the Cove Deck is a priority, add it as a note when you book your room or call the concierge desk ahead of arrival. Tables near the stage go first, and the room doesn't take reservations more than 30 days out, so it's worth calling closer to your travel dates rather than the moment you book your room.

Guests staying multiple nights sometimes split their evenings — one night on the Cove Deck, one night walking the district to hear what else is playing. Both work well from Velvet Cove, since almost everything downtown sits within an easy walk of the resort.
